NY Hurricane Update: A message to our customers
On 01.11.2012
You will have seen the news of Hurricane Sandy hitting New York and the mass destruction and disruption that it caused. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.

I am pleased to say that all our people in New York are safe, although many have been personally affected, and some have had homes and properties damaged.

At huge personal effort, many people nevertheless made it into work and managed to open some of the branches yesterday. This helped the many tourists and business people who have been stranded in Manhattan and who needed urgent access to local money. We currently have branches open at:

1568 Broadway (middle of Times Square next to the Tourist Information Centre)
234 W 42nd Street (next door to Madame Tussauds)
315 Madison Avenue
720 7th Avenue, Times Square (next to The Renaissance Hotel)

The subway transport system is currently flooded from 42nd Street downwards and there is no power from lower Manhattan down 34th Street after the main power transformer blew up. This means that three of our branches are without electricity and therefore closed (34th Street, 5th Avenue and the branch in South Street Seaport).

Local management have been doing everything they can to support the staff. I have already sent our General Manager for Northern Europe on one of the first available flights to go out and assist during this difficult time.

I would like to personally thank everyone for their efforts at this time and for all the dedication being shown to help our business and to help our customers.

Your success makes us all very proud.
