All Change at Prestwick Airport and Lubeck Airport
Infratil Airports Europe is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with The Change Group to provide passengers with currency exchange services at Glasgow Prestwick Airport and Lübeck Airport.
The company was appointed from a shortlist of potential operators when the Foreign Exchange business was tendered at the end of last year, and they will commence trading on February 1.
At Glasgow Prestwick, The Change Group will take over and refit the existing landside unit and also introduce a new expanded unit in the departure lounge area so that passengers have access to full foreign exchange facilities both landside and airside.
At Lübeck Airport, The Change Group will open for business in a new landside location with plans to open an airside unit there too.
Formed in 1992, The Change Group has become one of the world leaders in its field with a presence in Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia. They are an independent, primarily high street, retailer and are keen to get involved in the low cost carrier market which mainly operates from regional airports.
Graeme Sweenie, Group General Manager Commercial and Property for Infratil Airports Europe, commented: “We are very excited about this new opportunity, particularly as it will offer our passengers an airside currency exchange facility at Glasgow Prestwick and Lübeck.
“We have been impressed by The Change Group’s enthusiasm about this venture, as well as their track record of providing exceptional customer service at all their locations, and we look forward to working with them.”
Bette Zackariya, Group Director at The Change Group replied saying “Infrantil has rapidly become a leading operator of airports and we are excited to be able to help support their growth and vision to provide customers tailored foreign exchange solutions. We look forward to working in partnership with Infratil and look forward to an outstanding relationship.”
Travelex have provided the currency exchange services at both Glasgow Prestwick and Lübeck for a number of years, and they will continue to work with Infratil, the owners of Glasgow Prestwick, at Wellington Airport in New Zealand.
A provisional deal was also agreed with another of Infratil’s airports, Kent International Airport, where The Change Group will start operating when the number of international passengers using the airport passes the 500,000 mark.
