ChangeGroup Responds to Earthquake in New Zealand
On 24.02.2011
After the 6.3 magnitude quake in Christchurch, NZ yesterday, CG pledges support to tourists and staff caught in the turmoil.

ChangeGroup operates 6 branches in Christchurch and a total of 15 across New Zealand. Many tourists were caught by surprise and needed directions and assistance.

The earthquake, which occurred in the afternoon, has resulted in at least 75 deaths and over 300 people missing, with fallen buildings and debris posing a challenge for rescuers. The mayor, Bob Parker has declared a state of emergency and has ordered civilians to evacuate the capital city.

ChangeGroup’s Christchurch Manager Davis Hu Kuo has confirmed that all on-duty staff are safe and Geordie Wilson, New Zealand Operations Manager, has spoken with all Christchurch staff who are physically ok, but obviously shaken. Wilson will be flying to Christchurch within in the next few days to lend support and help.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Christchurch. CG will lend assistance to those we can help and will keep all staff and the public updated of the situation within the coming days.
